Master Tracker Lee Gutteridge literally wrote the book on Invertebrates of Southern Africa and their Tracks & Signs. Join him, and Senior Tracker Kersey Lawrence in the Greater Kruger for 3 days investigating the small details of the South African bush. We will use the book to learn about the miraculous lives of these sometimes horror-inspiring, yet intricately beautiful creatures. And we will go further, delving into information that hasn't been published yet, and we will push the boundaries of what's known, together, looking for new discoveries.
This program is in a tented camp. Beds are provided for you, a proper base with a mattress and fitted sheet - you'll need to bring your own pillow and other linens. There is a full kitchen and braai area - bring whatever food and drink you'd like for the program, as this is a self-catered event. There are clean ablution facilities available, too, so bring your toiletries and a towel. Fresh drinking water, coffee, and tea are provided for you. There is also a swimming pool on site, so bring a swimming costume/suit for relief from the hot mid-day heat. Limited Wi-Fi is available nearby.
The camp is unfenced, and wild animals do come through, so a strong torch/flashlight is REQUIRED, as well as a good sense of observation and awareness for what is around you.
Limited to 8 participants.
THE TRACKER HOUSE - Open to the public.
Original Wisdom Founder Kersey Lawrence, and Lee Gutteridge, both CyberTracker Evaluators and a Senior and a Master Tracker, respectively, will rent a house in Meadview, Arizona, under 2 hours drive from Las Vegas, to go tracking with you!
This is the first Original Wisdom Tracker House - and we intend to do this every February in a different location to explore different regions, habitats, species, and visit with our tracker community.
The area around Las Vegas is surrounded by many natural areas for tracking and wildlife watching (Red Rocks, Valley of Fire, Wetlands Park, Lake Mead, and Death Valley are all from 30 minutes to 3 hours drive from Vegas, and the Mojave Desert, Bryce, Zion, Arches, the Petrified Forest, the Grand Canyon, and more, are within a couple of hours further).
This isn't a money making endeavour, but instead an opportunity to build community - to track with old friends and to make new ones. You can donate some $$ towards the cost of the Airbnb or private rental (if there is one), and you should expect to pay for your travel and transportation costs, and for your own food and drink while you are there. There will be WIFI for research, and for the occasional days where Kersey and Lee need to stay in and do admin or are feeling inspired to write! On most days, we will be tracking - both track and sign identification and trailing. Track with us, on your own, or go sightseeing!
Drop in - We'd love to see you! You'll need to email Kersey for more details and to ensure there is space for your visit.
Our vision - This concept will move around from year to year exploring different North American regions, but we envision that it will eventually move internationally and that we will add on opportunities for CyberTracker Certifications toward the end of the stay.
If you know of a suitable home to rent in 2027, please reach out!

Winter Wolf Tracking with Matt Nelson and Abel Bean as your guides - open to the public.
Join us in the heart of Wisconsin's wolf territory for an unforgettable experience - our second annual Original Wisdom Way of the Wolf Tracking Immersion.
You'll stay in a warm and comfortable home that we have rented for our stay, surrounded by the winter beauty of the region. Over the course of five full days in-the-field (with an arrival and departure day on either end totaling 7 days together), we'll venture into the snowy landscape to track the resident wolf packs. Through their trails, tracks, and signs, you'll gain a deep understanding of these magnificent creatures, and of the other beings that they share the land with. Meals are provided for you, and dietary preferences can be arranged with advance notice.

We will stay together in a comfortable little lodge with electricity, flushing toilets, and hot and cold running water that is safe to drink. Meals are provided for you and some dietary preferences can be catered for. Ethiopia offers one of the most extraordinary tracking and wildlife-learning experiences on the continent, both ecologically and culturally. This immersive journey moves from the Rift Valley lakes to the Afro-alpine Bale Mountains, combining animal tracking, birding, and game viewing across dramatically different ecosystems shaped by deep time.
Ethiopia is also central to the human story. Time in Addis Abeba includes encounters with the country's remarkable cultural history and with Lucy, one of the oldest known hominids, reminding us that tracking here unfolds in landscapes where human and animal stories have been intertwined for millions of years.
Led in collaboration with experienced local guides, the program emphasizes reading sign and understanding behavior in context, looking for, and tracking, species such as the Ethiopian wolf (the rarest canid in the world), Swayne's hartebeest, mountain nyala, jackals, hyenas, and a wide range of plains game. Ethiopia is also a global birding hotspot, with over 860 recorded bird species, including many endemics encountered along the Rift Valley lakes and highland forests.
Rather than rushing from sighting to sighting, we'll travel slowly between the safest cultural and wildlife hotspots: studying tracks and trails, asking ecological questions, and learning how animals and people have moved through these landscapes over time. Cultural encounters and time in extraordinary places such as the Bale Mountains and the Rift Valley round out a deeply rewarding learning expedition. Potential encounters with gelada baboons (also known as the lion-maned baboon or the bleeding heart baboon), living in complex social groups along dramatic escarpments, further deepen our perspective on primate behavior, evolution, and social life.
Participant numbers are intentionally limited (maximum of 10), and some spaces are still available for 2026.
Calendars from 2015 to 2021 have been archived.
